 Hiking Slick Rock Creek |
 Activities |
|
Our day hikes range from easy 1-3 mile walks to 4-6
mile moderate treks. We are located on the quiet North Carolina side
of the Smokies--no crowds and no neon (cell phones don't work here
and Fed Ex can't find us!). Be sure to bring your camera for some
spectacular wildflower, waterfall, and wildlife pictures. There are also hiking trails on the property that guests can explore during their free time. |
|
Spend a night in a cave! After a boat ride on the world's largest underground
lake (the Lost Sea), we will embark on a special guided tour of the cave and spend
the night in a large, lighted cave room (bring your sleeping bag). |
Caving at the Lost Sea |
 Rafting the Ocoee |
East Tennessee is blessed with spectacular whitewater rivers. We offer trips on the Nantahala
and Ocoee Rivers. The Ocoee was the site of the 1996 Olympic whitewater events. The Nantahala is a bit gentler than the Ocoee but still has plenty of thrills. |
 Joni Lovegrove, Cherokee Storyteller |
 Evenings at the Bonfire |
|
We want our guests to experience true Appalachian and Cherokee
culture and to learn about the history of this area. A local Cherokee
woman will captivate you with stories and songs from her Indian heritage.
You'll enjoy some toe tappin' old timey mountain music one evening. A
visit to Sequoyah Museum will teach you many things about the Cherokee people. |
 Going Down! |
 Look, Ma! No Hands! |
|
You can try your hand at beginning rappelling on a 40 foot bluff. Certified instructors will teach and coach your through the process.

Biking on the Cherahola Skyway |
 Doin' the Calderwood Plunge! |
|
Attention Biking Clubs! We have our own version of the Cherohala Challenge. We will drop you off at any point along the ascent of the Skyway
from Tellico Plains (950 ft) to Hoopers Bald (5,277 ft) to ride the crest of the mountain. Then it's 20 miles of 9% downhill grade all the way to the Joyce
Kilmer Memorial Forest where we'll hike and see some big trees. Then another 18 miles of easy lakeshore biking takes you to the Calderwood Plunge,
where you can ride your bike down the boat ramp straight into the cold waters of Calderwood Lake. Our 2006 group did just this on a hot July day when
the temps were in the 90's (p.s. the water temperature is 53 degrees coming out from the dam upstream).

Fly Fishing for Wily Trout |
Kevin's Catch of the Day! |
|
There's no better way to relax and renew your spirit than standing in the cool, clear water of Citico Creek and trying to outsmart those wily trout.
Even if you've never fished before, we can show you how to use a standard fishing rod or a fly rod.
